Are classes held year-round?

Yes. Classes are held all year with the exception of the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of Spring Break, and for a week shortly before the start of the school year (in order to give parents and students with school age children some extra time to prepare without worrying about time pressure). We sometimes close due to severe Winter weather. Notifications are made on our homepage (popup indicating that we are closed), Facebook page, and KWWL https://www.kwwl.com/weather/closings/

How much does it cost?

“Tots” class (5-7yrs): $50 for the first month, uniform included. After the first month, club dues are $40/month.

Older kids/adults: $80 for the first month, uniform included. After the first month, club dues are $70/month.

For multiple members of the same household, there is a 10% “family discount” after the first month.

My child wants to take a break for (insert extracurricular activity here)…

That is fine. In my opinion, this is the time that they should be exposed to different activities. Due to class sizes and the fact that we typically have to utilize a waiting list, club dues must be kept current during their absence if they wish to reserve their spot in class until returning. Some people prefer to roll the dice and see if there is an opening when they are ready to resume training. That is fine too, as long as you are aware that there may be a significant wait before getting back in…

Also, be aware that all ranks below Black Belt are considered “temporary”. If, after a lengthy absence, the student does not retain what they have learned to earn their current rank, they may need to spend some time at a previous level…or start over altogether. This is not impossible. I have had to start over a couple times as a child and as a young man…and I am glad I did!

Practicing outside of class is essential!

Upon the student’s return, I will spend some time assessing them; deciding if they just need to “shake the rust off”, or they need to go back to a previous level.

Please don’t think of this as some sort of punishment. It is not. Try to think of it as “foundation repair”.
